Overview:

The College is seeking a pool of applicants for hourly Academic Tutor positions for the English Department Writing Center.

Assignments could be a Lincroft main campus and/or Colleges Higher Education Centers.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible to tutor individuals/small groups of students in fundamental and advanced areas of writing, including essays and research papers.
• Responsible for supporting classroom instruction, administering/evaluation of placement essays, ordering materials, maintaining records, and supervising use of materials and facilities.
• Must have the ability to analyze individual student writing needs, development learning objectives to meet those needs, and monitor student progress.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Edcuation:

• Bachelors degree in English or closely related field is required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Must have knowledge of word processing.
• Requires an in-depth knowledge of the process approach to writing instruction, as well as excellent grammar and interpersonal/communication skills.
• Must have the ability to work with students with special needs and students for whom English is a second language.
