Now Hiring: Lab Director – Analytical Chemistry

📍 Location: Woodbridge, CT | Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 9AM–5PM (some weekends)

With a strong reputation for accuracy, compliance, and rapid turnaround, we serve clients across Connecticut , New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island from our main laboratory in Woodbridge and satellite offices in Niantic and Glastonbury. As a quickly expanding company, we’re looking for a dynamic and experienced Lab Director to lead our chemistry lab operations and contribute to our next phase of growth.

Position Summary

We are seeking a full-time Lab Director to oversee the daily operations of our chemistry laboratory. This leadership role requires hands-on management of laboratory staff, quality systems, and analytical instrumentation. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a passion for environmental testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, support, and mentor a team of 3 scientists
• Review and sign off on laboratory results and data reports
• Operate and troubleshoot complex instruments, including:
• ICP-OES, ICP-MS, Ion Chromatographs (ICs), Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), Liquid Scintillation Counters (LSCs)
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment
• Develop, update, and enforce SOPs in accordance with NELAC, EPA, DEP, and ISO standards
• Manage and maintain QA/QC protocols
• Train staff in laboratory procedures, instrumentation, and safety standards
• Ensure lab compliance with regulatory requirements and audits
• Collaborate with executive leadership to align operational goals with company strategy

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education :
• MS or Ph.D. in Chemistry is desired
• Additional background in Radiochemistry and Microbiology is a plus
• Certifications :
• State lab director approval required (or willingness to obtain)
• Technical Skills :
• Experience with ICP-OES, ICP-MS, ICs, GC-MS, and LSCs
• Strong background in both organic and inorganic chemistry
• Microbiology and radiochemistry certifications are required and can be obtained while on the job
• Other Requirements :
• Proven experience in SOP development, staff oversight, and lab operations
• Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills
