So, what will the Anesthesiologist at Terrestris do?

The Anesthesiologist is responsible for the assessment, planning, and management of anesthesia during medical procedures. You will be responsible for ensuring that patients are safely sedated, comfortable, and pain-free during the procedure, as well as managing their care before, during, and after anesthesia is administered.

What does a typical day look like for the Anesthesiologist?

You will:

  1. Collaborate with surgeons, physicians, and other medical professionals to ensure patients receive the appropriate anesthesia type based on their medical history, surgery type, and overall health condition.
  2. Conduct preoperative evaluations on patients.
  3. Administer anesthesia to patients.
  4. Monitor patients during surgical procedure.
  5. Ensure proper postoperative recovery.

What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the medical professional we’re looking for if you have:

  1. A current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
  2. Board Certification / Board Eligibility in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).
  3. Current Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or equivalency.
  4. The requisite credentials enabling the granting of privileges in accordance with the provisions of VHA Directive 1100.20 and VHA Directive 1100.21.
  5. Technical proficiency in the skills necessary to fulfill the position’s requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
  6. Verifiable evidence of the completion of all Continuing Medical Education (CME) / Certified Education Unit (CEU) Requirements.
  7. Proof of:
    • A negative Tuberculosis Skin Test (TST) or interferon-gamma release assays (IGRA); a negative chest radiographic report for active tuberculosis shall be provided in cases of positive TST or IGRA results.
  8. Immunity to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR).
  9. Immunity to Varicella.
  10. (1) dose of Tdap vaccination.
  11. Annual Influenza vaccination unless it is contraindicated. If a contraindication to the vaccine exists, you will be required to wear a mask during the Influenza season.
  12. Completion and passing generic self-study blood-borne pathogen training.
