Job Title : Audio-Visual Technician

Office Location : Harbor Management Offices

Reports To : Director of Marketing and Consumer Experience

Summary: The Audio-Visual Technician sets up, tests, assesses, monitors, repairs and tears down equipment for live events, such as themed festivals, music concerts, parades, and other special events in the HarborWalk Village. This role is also required to host events, emceeing and deejaying on a regular basis. This person works with projectors, sound systems, microphones, sound mixing equipment, video cameras, amplifiers, video screens, speakers, and lighting.

This is a full-time, year-round position that will work a flexible schedule that fulfills the setup, execution and tear down of events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides technical suggestions and assistance to the Marketing & Events team for each event, determining the technical and production requirements for the varied events, including timelines, equipment, and budgeting.
  • Works closing with the Events team on creative design and in-depth staging for each event.
  • Assists the Emerald Grande with audio-visual requirements, maintenance, and installments for events taking place on the pool deck, public areas, and meeting space as requested or needed.
  • Transports, sets up, and installs media equipment and audio-visual support tools, including speakers, monitors, cameras, and equipment racks for each event.
  • Responsible for monitoring each project, from the beginning to on-site implementation, by estimating all requirements for sound, projection, and lighting.
  • Assists the Events team in working closely with merchants, exhibitors, vendors, and event sponsors to ensure that all AV details of events are taken care of.
  • Performs testing of audio-visual equipment and fixes issues related to video, audio, switching and control systems.
  • Uses computer systems for multimedia projects.
  • Acts as host/emcee for events, making special announcements and/or running a contest from start to finish.
  • Disassembles equipment, wiring, and support tools in a safe manner.
  • Performs inventory management on equipment, wiring, and accessories.
  • Carrys out any cleaning, maintenance, or repairs on audio-visual equipment on a consistent basis.
  • Generates expense reports for management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

GED or high school diploma required. A bachelor’s degree in communications or broadcasting or specialized experience in audio-visual technology or digital media preferred.

  • In-depth working knowledge of camera and lighting techniques.
  • Strong working knowledge of audio-visual editing equipment and software.
  • Excellent computer and troubleshooting skills.

  • The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Physical fitness to transport and set up and tear down heavy equipment.
  • Good hearing and eyesight.

Other Qualifications

Availability Open and operational seven days a week. Employees are required to be available to workdays, nights, weekends, and holidays.

License Requirements Valid driver’s license that has been in effect for at least three years, with no major violations and no more than two minor violations in the past three years.

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside in climate-controlled conditions, as well as outside in hot or cool climates.
