HJF is seeking a highly motivated college graduate to serve as a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator I for eating- and weight-related studies. This position will be in support of Drs. Marian Tanofsky-Kraff, Natasha Schvey, and Lisa Shank at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences’ (USU) Medical and Clinical Psychology (MPS) Department, which is based in Bethesda, MD.

The successful candidate will be trained to conduct psychological assessments. The position requires an individual who is highly responsible and has excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, particularly with children and families. This position is ideal for individuals planning to pursue graduate work in clinical psychology or medicine.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation (HJF) provides administrative and management support for this position. HJF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. Responsibilities

  • Coordination and assistance of research projects, including assisting with study recruitment efforts and participant visits.
  • Conducting clinical interviews and administering surveys to children and parents.
  • Scoring and coding interviews.
  • Collection and organization of data.
  • Data entry for research projects and maintenance of databases.
  • Basic data analysis and interpretation.
  • Assistance with preparation of literature reviews and manuscripts.
  • Creation and copyediting of slides and presentations for lectures and conferences.
  • Assisting with the preparation of protocols, amendments, and continuing reviews.
  • participant contact with children and families,
  • mentorship from expert collaborators in the fields of psychology, medicine, and epidemiology,
  • potential for authorship on scientific publications and presentations,
  • training in a wide range of assessments for eating behavior and psychosocial adjustment.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Behavioral Health, Psychology, social work, or health related focus preferred.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience required

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of project management; well-organized.
  • Highly responsible.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, particularly with children and families.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to facilitate communication among supervisors, peers, and supervisees.
  • Must be familiar with Institutional Review Board activities and applicable federal and military regulations regarding the use of human subjects in research.
  • Must be able to set and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with all teammates and research subjects in a culturally sensitive, accessible, and inclusive manner that demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Interest in working in military mental health research including research with military adolescents and children
  • Ability to understand and utilize scientific terminology and research theory in both oral and written communications.
  • Background in psychology, social work, or another health-related field preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.
  • Prior research experience is strongly preferred.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in a clinic setting.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $43,650-$52,500. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
