Job Description

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Contract Manager to lead and manage the lifecycle of commercial contracts across our building material and crane mat business and other trading divisions. This newly created position is critical to ensuring that our contractual relationships — both buy-side and sell-side — are structured to mitigate risk, maximize value, and support fast-paced trading activity. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in contract terms and conditions drafting, negotiation, and risk assessment, and will be embedded within the trading floor to provide real-time support and strategic guidance.

While there are administrative elements to the role, this is not a contract administration role. We are seeking a candidate with demonstrated experience in independently drafting and negotiating commercial contract language, with a deep understanding of commercial risk, risk allocation, and terms interpretation. This position reports to the Controller – who is the key operational business leader at the Company – with heavy interaction with the Company’s legal and compliance departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including purchase and sale agreements, rental/lease agreements, master service agreements (MSAs), storage agreements, terms associated with credit applications, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), and preferred vendor terms.
  • Navigate and manage “battle of the forms” scenarios with a strong understanding of UCC principles and how terms are formed and enforced in fast-paced trading environments – including the ability to recognize scenarios where the company risks inadvertently accepting the counterparty’s terms.
  • Collaborate closely with traders, the Controller, and compliance teams to ensure contracts reflect operational realities and business goals, while appropriately managing legal and regulatory risks.
  • Support other trading divisions (e.g., crane mats, helical anchors, and wholesale liquidations of various building products, chemicals and food ingredients) with tailored contract strategies that protect the company’s interests.
  • Coordinate with the legal department to identify and mitigate contractual risks, escalating issues for legal support appropriately and efficiently.
  • Improve contract turnaround times to support business velocity and reduce bottlenecks.
  • Act as primary administrator for third party portals/websites the company is required to participate on for large customer relationships.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in contract management, with an emphasis on contract review and negotiations. Experience within the construction industry is a plus
  • Strong understanding of commercial contract law, including UCC principles and distributor arrangements.
  • Extensive experience independently revising and negotiating contract language for routine commercial concepts.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a collaborative approach to working with traders and operational teams.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities, shift focus quickly, and maintain high standards of accuracy and responsiveness under pressure.
  • Comfortable using contract-related software and tools, including Word (track changes, comments) and PDF markup tools, and making file conversions, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and tools such as redlining software, AI tools, or a CLM platform.
