Job Summary  

The Cost Accountant position is responsible for maintaining and controlling the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of various facilities to support the accurate recording of financial information relating to Manufacturing and Inventory. Assist in providing financial representation and support for manufacturing facility(s).  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to monthly journal entries, inventories, standard operating procedures, coordination of data collection to support local and corporate financial systems, as well as additional analysis and reports as required to support financial and plant/supply chain management.

Responsibilities  

  • Reconcile raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods stock.
  • Define various product and operational costs for used and sub-assemblies.
  • Review standard and actual cost variances.
  • Reconcile and balance general ledger accounts.
  • Monitor and report production output costs.
  • Prepare cost of goods sold and production reports.
  • Implement changes in cost standards for material and labor.
  • Diagnose the cause of inventory variances.
  • Prepare inventory related journal entries at month end.
  • Periodically review standard operating procedures and revise as necessary.
  • Review and revise the reserve for obsolete inventory.
  • Assist with costs and budgets through the review of operations and the criteria used for developing cost standards and expense budgets to establish an acceptable base for measuring product cost, expense control and plant performance.
  • Assist operations with the day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations of the manufacturing facilities.
  • Assist in the completion of special projects.
  • Assist in evaluating, implementing and maintaining internal control processes and systems to ensure accurate reporting and the safeguarding of company assets. 

Internal Controls

  • Document and follow relevant internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Directly assist subsidiaries and other departments to document and adhere to relevant internal controls over financial reporting for their respective functions

Skills/Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline required.
  • 3 Years or more experience as an Accountant at a manufacturing or gaming company.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepting Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
  • The ability to work interactively across functional groups.
  • Exposure to highly analytical and challenging business issues with complex financial and operating efficiency implications.
  • Plant manufacturing experience with an Operations mind set.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Skilled in use of financial software packages. Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and Sage Fixed Assets preferred
  • Experience in Kaizen and Workflow management.
  • Ability to prioritize work tasks.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office products, particularly MS Excel (familiarity with VLOOKUPs and pivot tables).
