Job Summary and Qualifications

This position responsible for observing telemetry/unit monitors and assessing rhythms on a continual basis to report changes to charge nurse.

What responsibilities you will handle:

• High School Graduate / GED
• Continuously observes monitors for changes and reports same to charge nurse and nurse caring for patient
• Immediately reports life threatening arrhythmias
• Immediately obtains rhythm strip of any change noted to be reviewed by charge nurse
•  Obtains ECG strip on all monitored patients q 4 h and prn change in rhythm. 
• Maintains current record (i.e. log) of all patients being monitored with the rhythm for reference purposes at all times. 
• Employee Comments: Interprets and documents on mounting sheet, rate, rhythm, P-R interval, Q-T and on prn interval, QRS duration q 4 hours
• Mounts strips on charts as appropriate
• Ensures that patient’s name, room number, date and time, and signature are on each strip at all times
• Maintains list of broken transmitters and their disposition at all times 
• Orders cables and other supplies as needed to maintain monitors at all times 
• Average Ratings for Performance Area Provides for appropriate storage of transmitters at all times 
• Maintains and cleans all transmitters at all times.

What qualifications you will need:

• High School Graduate / GED
• Successful completion of Basic EKG Certification
