An Electrophysiology Technician assists physicians during cardiac electrophysiology procedures, performing patient assessments and operating specialized diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. They maintain sterile techniques, provide patient care including drug administration, and possess certifications in cardiovascular or radiologic technology along with life support skills. This role is based in a healthcare setting focused on cardiac care and requires both technical expertise and patient interaction.
Description
The Electrophysiology Technologist prepares for and assists the physician in the testing and/or treatment of patients in the Electrophysiology Lab procedures. Performs as a monitor tech and scrub tech; maintaining sterile technique.
The EPT performs/reviews baseline patient assessment, evaluates patient response to diagnostic or interventional maneuvers and medications during Electrophysiology laboratory procedures, provides patient care and administers drugs commonly used in the EP lab as directed by a qualified physician. The EPT is proficient in basic cardiac life support. The EPT is proficient in the operation and maintenance, as specific by the manufacturer, of all diagnostic and therapeutic EP equipment used for procedures.
