Housekeeper (full-time) - Government House

Closing date: July 31, 2025

Salary: GOVH 03 - $45,000 to $55,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)

Primary Location: Annapolis, Maryland (position works solely on-site)

This is a Special Appointment position and therefore serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority (“at-will”) .

The Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) supports State and local government agencies, as well as local non-profit organizations and the citizens of Maryland, by providing facilities management, real estate and surplus property services, as well as security and law enforcement for State buildings. DGS is also responsible for a full spectrum of facilities engineering, design and construction services, almost $1 billion in annual contract administration, and overseeing the State procurement process.

The Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) is looking to hire an experienced full-time Housekeeper for Government House , the executive residence of the Governor of Maryland and First Family. This position is responsible for performing housekeeping and other related duties, working in an executive residence environment.

NOTE: The weekly shift schedule for this position will include working on Saturdays. Only those candidates with availability to regularly work Saturdays should apply.

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Immaculately maintaining private areas within the residence.
  • Assisting with personal and household laundry care as needed to maintain the residence.
  • Assisting (as needed) with food service in the absence of other staff.
  • Serving as support staff during special events as needed.
  • Overseeing and stocking household cleaning supplies and paper good products for the residence.
  • Assisting with preparing public rooms of the residence for special events as needed.

Desired Qualifications include:

  1. At least three (3) years of housekeeping experience for a large executive residence or hotel (or similar experience).
  2. Food and beverage background preferred, working with chefs/cooks, setting up food buffets and drink bars, etc.
  3. Ability to work flexible hours and overtime (for pay) as needed, to include days/evenings, weekends and holidays.
  4. Ability to pass a thorough criminal background investigation.
  5. Valid driver’s license required.
  6. A strong work ethic, self-motivation towards excellent job performance, and the ability and desire to work well with others in a team environment.
