Description Summary of Position We are seeking a qualified
Forklift Operator/Yard CDL Driver to join our team. This role encompasses responsibilities across the distribution, warehouse, and receiving departments, including tasks typically performed by Forklift Operator I, II, and III. The position involves operating yard trucks to move trailers, utilizing various material handling equipment, and training other employees in forklift operations. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Key Responsibilities - Unload trucks and containers of raw or finished goods.
- Verify receipts against order documentation, sign and stamp Bills of Lading, and enter inventory into the system using QAD.
- Apply labels as directed, pick work order demands, stage products for production, load trucks, fulfill customer orders, and store finished goods.
- Operate yard trucks to move trailers in and out of dock doors or around the truck yard.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in receiving, warehouse, and distribution areas by sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, taping open cases, and organizing pallets.
- Rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) or FEFO (First Expired, First Out) methods, depending on job function.
- Perform pre-operational inspections on all material handling equipment and report any issues or damages.
- Properly handle and maintain hand-held scanning equipment.
- Provide training to employees on various warehouse tasks.
Food Safety & Compliance - Follow current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), allergen/sanitation controls, food defense/food fraud protocols, HACCP/FSMA, SQF, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and document preventative controls to ensure food safety and quality.
- Immediately report any food safety or quality issues to management.
- Collaborate with team members and share knowledge across functional areas.
- Support professional and leadership development.
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
- Promote a safety culture by practicing safe work behaviors, reporting potential hazards, and conducting safety observations.
Qualifications Education & Experience - 2-3 years of forklift driving experience.
- Strong knowledge of safe forklift operation.
Certificates & Licenses - JBSS-issued material handling equipment certification.
- Valid CDL Class A license.
Skills & Competencies - Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to train others effectively.
