Job Description

Job Summary The Horticulture Assistant, under the supervision of the Horticulturist, helps manage the ornamental landscaping for the golf course and clubhouse properties. Job Responsibilities

• Propagates and grows plant materials (except trees and larger shrubs) for an ornamental use on and around the golf course, clubhouse and other buildings.
• Collaborate on flower bed designs and cultivates shrubs and flowers.
• Trims and prunes hedges and shrubbery.
• Assists in maintaining low-pressure irrigation systems for landscaping.
• Advises the superintendent and horticulturist of the need for tree trimming services.
• Assist in fertilizer applications
• Maintaining clubhouse grounds

• Knowledge of the characteristics, growth habits and proper cultivation of a wide selection of flowering bulbs, annuals, biennials and perennial plant materials, including both herbaceous and woody plants is helpful.
• Knowledge of the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers, soil conditioners and pest control methods and materials is helpful.
• Experience in golf course maintenance and the game of golf.
• Able to consistently lift 50 lbs.
• Successful candidate is a self starter, motivated, punctual and prideful.
