Job Description

A warm and welcoming couple in Gladwyne, PA, is seeking a dedicated and experienced full-time Housekeeper to join their household as their current housekeeper of 40 years prepares for retirement. They are looking for someone trustworthy, reliable, and compassionate who is interested in a long-term role. The family is open to both live-in and live-out candidates and for the live-in role, would prefer a New Yorker who could live in their home Monday through Thursday nights and return to New York on Friday afternoon via the 4:00 PM train from Ardmore.

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday

• 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM

• Candidate would live in from Monday night through Thursday night, returning to New York Friday afternoon

• If trust is established, the candidate may also be asked to clean the family’s New York apartment every other Friday. The apartment, located at Fifth Avenue and 85th Street, is a seven-room, three-bath residence.

Compensation:

• Salary is flexible depending on experience and suitability for the role

Responsibilities:

• Perform general housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and organized home

• Keep the house well-organized and ensure a smooth household operation

• Manage household inventory, ensuring supplies are always stocked

• Assist with food preparation, including chopping vegetables, when the Mrs. cooks

• Provide laundry care, including washing, ironing, and folding, with attention to detail

• Be kind and respectful to the family’s 40-year-old special needs daughter, who lives with them and is a cherished member of the household

• Clean and maintain the family's New York apartment every other Friday, if requested 

Qualifications:

• Prior housekeeping experience in private households is preferred

• Strong organizational and time-management skills

• Attention to detail, particularly in laundry and household care

• A kind, patient, and compassionate demeanor, especially when interacting with the family’s daughter

• Special needs experience is a plus but not required

• Trustworthy, reliable, and interested in a long-term role with the family
