Job Title : Houseman
Location : Palm Beach, North of the Breakers
Job Overview :
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Houseman to support a private household in Palm Beach. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in domestic work and experience in maintaining both indoor and outdoor areas. This role involves helping with light cleaning duties, supporting meal preparation, and performing minor maintenance tasks around the house. The household includes an elderly gentleman who uses a walker and receives 24/7 care from two professional caregivers (working 12-hour shifts).
The Houseman will work alongside a long-standing team, including an experienced housekeeper, and assist with daily household tasks. This position is open to both live-out and live-in arrangements. For live-in candidates, accommodations will be provided. Flexibility is required, with the ability to stay through dinner on certain evenings and work Saturdays, with every other Saturday off.
Responsibilities :
- General cleaning and upkeep of indoor areas, including light fixtures, windows, and bathrooms.
- Outdoor maintenance, including tending to the garden, cleaning exterior light fixtures, and performing basic repairs around the property.
- Assistance with dinner preparation and cleanup on nights when other caregivers are not available.
- Provide support to the elderly husband, including light assistance as needed, under the direction of the 24/7 caregiver team.
- Work with the housekeeper to manage laundry and basic housekeeping tasks.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness throughout the home, ensuring all areas are tidy and well-maintained.
Schedule & Conditions :
- Flexibility is key, including being available for dinner shifts and supporting the team as needed.
- Every other Saturday off.
- Live-in arrangements can be provided, or a live-out arrangement is also acceptable.
- Paid year-round, with additional compensation during the summer months when the family is in Boston (for the duration of a 6-month vacation).
- Must have own car for transportation.
Required Qualifications :
- Experience in a domestic or houseman role with an understanding of household maintenance and cleaning.
- Experience in caring for elderly individuals in a home setting is a plus.
- Comfortable with light outdoor work and minor repairs.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.
- Physically capable of performing household tasks that may include standing for long periods, walking, and lifting light to moderate loads.
