Description
The Interior Design Assistant will directly support the Design Director in both design tasks and back-end administrative duties. The focus is hospitality, stage & ministry interior design spaces, with a range of roles including consulting, space planning + furnishings, as well as design direction + material specifications for construction projects. This position will assist the Design Director with research and source items, including fabrics, furnishings, lighting, wall coverings, tile, stone, carpeting, plumbing fixtures, and accessories, project management for multiple clients, aid in the preparation of presentation materials for client presentations, measure for as-built drawings; perform CAD and 3D Sketch-Up for space planning, layouts, elevations, sketch details, etc., attend project meetings, site visits, and vendor visits with the design team as needed, and prepare for and attend installations. They serve with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promotes Harvest's culture, values, and mission.
Requirements
- Prior experience in the design and execution of interiors, with a creative mindset and sophisticated eye for design. We are seeking a detail oriented, self-starter who is willing to take initiative and help in any direction needed. An ideal candidate is a team player with a willingness to learn and contribute creatively to all aspects of the design process.
- Previous experience working in the Interior Design industry (1 year min).
- Degree in Interior Design and/or Interior Architecture preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple ministries and client documents at once.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines with autonomy.
- Proficient in computer software programs such as AutoCAD, Photoshop, Google Suite, Studio Designer, and SketchUp.
- Positive attitude and demeanor when working with design team, vendors, and clients; must strive to maintain a positive work environment.
- Ability to maintain and grow thoughtful, professional relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Evaluate project sites to determine design strategies for completing each project. Ensure that each project has materials, finishes, FF&E, artwork, and window treatments suited to the team's goals.
- Manage multiple, simultaneous projects through all phases of design and construction with high accuracy, timeliness, and follow-up.
- Data entry, including creating proposals, client invoicing, vendor purchase orders, entering client and vendor payments, updating contacts, etc.
- Vendor engagement including setting up accounts, establishing positive relationships, setting up meetings to see new products and for sourcing, and general communication on behalf of the designer director.
- Obtain quotes from purchasing agents and verify budget compliance.
- Ordering and expediting furnishings, textiles, lighting, accessories, tile/stone, etc.
- Returning samples and product at various vendors.
- Represent Harvest in a professional and positive manner to staff and external sources.
