Job Description

The AHBL Landscape Team seeks to nurture healthy communities and our planet. We are looking for like-minded individuals eager to apply their skills to the challenges facing our built environment.

Our projects benefit from close interdisciplinary collaboration. We are passionate about our work and pursue innovation and creativity. Join us and become part of a growing department that is committed to fostering an engaging work environment and pursuing the kinds of projects we can be proud of.

We're a multi-disciplinary firm with engineering, planning, landscape architecture, and land surveying, offering creative design solutions to public and private sector clients since 1969. AHBL is a premier local consulting firm in the Northwest and a top place to work. Our people love it here because we don't do cookie-cutter work; we work collaboratively on diverse, complex, and fascinating projects.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
We seek a landscape architect ready to match our can-do energy and be involved in a wide range of landscape architecture work based out of our Seattle office. If you enjoy working with a team that values creativity, celebrates successes, and supports each other through challenges, then AHBL is your place!

In this role, you will work on various projects, including civic and mixed-use, affordable housing, K-12 educational environments, parks and recreation, and community-based projects. You will participate in the design process to develop conceptual, schematic, and construction documents, keep track of project budgets, and help to ensure that projects exceed our clients’ expectations. You will be involved in the design of multiple projects at various stages of development with support and direction from senior designers.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • A high level of organization and communication.
  • Diligent attention to detail.
  • A desire to make a positive impact in the communities we serve.
  • Motivation to meet our clients’ deadlines and rise to the occasion when the pressure is on.
Here’s our list of must-haves:
  • Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from an accredited university and 4+ years of experience
  • Licensure from a US state licensing board
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with contractor submittal reviews, drafting details, site punch reviews, and submittal tracking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong visual communication with hand-drawn and computer-generated graphic skills
  • Experience working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Experience with irrigation design
Anything on this list would be an asset, but is not required:
  • Experience working in LandFX, Civil 3D, and Revit
  • Familiarity with Rhino, Lumion, Grasshopper, and Sketchup
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Actual pay will be based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Ranges are based on a 40-hour work week.
  • $79,000 - $89,800 per year
  • Annual discretionary performance-based bonus.
  • 100% paid employee medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, life insurance and long-term disability protection. Subsidized dependent coverage.
  • Option of PPO health plan or HDHP with Health Savings Account (HSA) with company contribution.
  • Optional Flexible Spending Account (FSA).
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) Benefits. PTO is accrued at 16.5 days (132 hours) annually for new hires.
  • 8 company-paid holidays each calendar year.
  • Discretionary company-matched 401(k) plan.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Transportation assistance for our Seattle office through a company-provided ORCA card.
  • Additional voluntary benefits include voluntary hospital indemnity coverage, voluntary accident insurance, and voluntary critical illness insurance.
WHY JOIN US?
  • Fun and Friendly Atmosphere: From spontaneous team outings to team building events, we keep the workday fun as well as productive.
  • Creative Freedom: We encourage out-of-the-box thinking and innovative approaches to every project.
  • Growth Opportunities: Access to continuous learning and professional development to help you advance in your career.
  • Team Spirit: Be part of a supportive, enthusiastic team that celebrates successes and supports each other through challenges.
  • Work-Life Balance: Flexible working hours and a focus on maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
