We are seeking a talented Legal Assistant to join our Abuse Law practice in Sydney on a full-time, permanent basis.

About the role

Maurice Blackburn has a long history of practising in Abuse Law, and of advocating on the part of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This is a unique opportunity to establish credentials and expertise in a developing area of law. Key Responsibilities:

• Meeting with clients and taking instructions.
• Reviewing and analysing records.
• Drafting written communications to clients.
• Briefing medical experts and allied health professionals.
• Attending court for procedural hearings.
• Briefing and liaising with barristers.

The experience we are looking for:

We are looking for a lawyer with strong client service focus, a personable approach and commitment to social justice. You will ideally have at least 2-3 years PAE however if you have a strong desire to forge a career within this space we want to hear from you. In addition, you will have:

• A valid practising certificate;
• Prior experience working within a personal injury or litigation environment;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships and trust;
• An ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Excellent organisational skills, with high attention to detail;
• Excellent time management skills and commitment to drive matters to resolution in a timely manner;
• A strong knowledge of the relevant procedural rules relevant to personal injury practice in New South Wales;
• The ability to speak to clients from different backgrounds;
• A solutions focused outlook with a proactive approach to delivering quality outcomes.
