The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-fueled organization whose mission is to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and improve the quality of life for the children and adults affected by these diseases. Our work is dramatically accelerating the research process through our varied research initiatives; we also provide extensive educational and support resources for patients and their families, medical professionals, and the public. In addition, we lead federal and state-based advocacy campaigns to support medical research funding and improve patient access to care. Position Summary :
The Manager, Fundraising Campaigns & Volunteer Engagement (Take Steps/Special Events) is responsible for meeting or exceeding event budgets in assigned areas, and works in partnership with Foundation leaders, community volunteers and committees to drive growth and success in the St. Louis Take Steps walk and Evening of Hope Special Event gala fundraising campaigns. This individual will identify, recruit, train, and partner with leadership volunteers to harness their passion and skills and to help maximize their engagement in order to advance the mission of the Foundation.
The Manager travels throughout the designated market area to meet with constituents and serves as a key leader for the Foundation with volunteers and supporters. The Manager will help to identify and cultivate partnerships and alliances that will promote growth and awareness in the IBD community.
This is a hybrid work schedule, with 2 days/week in the Mid America office.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities :
Fundraising
- Implement Foundation best practices regarding recruitment and management of high-level volunteers, strategic initiatives, revenue generating activities and event day logistics resulting in meeting or exceeding revenue goals.
- Oversee all aspects of the Take Steps walk fundraising campaign and provide input into a plan to execute peer-to-peer fundraising best practices.
- Identify and cultivate corporate, healthcare and community partners who will maximize growth and revenue impact on Take Steps walk fundraising campaign.
- Partner with Executive Director and Evening of Hope gala committee to cultivate auction, sponsorship, identify additional event revenue streams.
- Develop impactful relationships within the patient, healthcare, and corporate community, empowering them to tell their stories through direct peer-to-peer fundraising.
- With chapter leadership, oversee creation of annual operational plan (marketing, budgeting, project management) to ensure success of the Take Steps walk campaign.
- Direct the implementation and execution of Take Steps walk fundraising campaign by focusing on acquisition, retention and stewardship of teams, participants, top fundraisers, sponsors and volunteers.
- With chapter leadership, ensure revenue goal is achieved by developing, implementing, and assessing year-round strategic fundraising plans for all Take Steps walks. Plan includes campaign revenue drivers: proactive team engagement, acquisition, day of experience, sponsorship and data-revenue tracking and assessment. Make timely adjustments to fundraising strategies as needed.
- Develop and facilitate relationships for donor cultivation and engagement opportunities through execution of national fundraising event (Take Steps walk) and chapter special event (Evening of Hope gala)
- Drive new corporate partnerships and pipeline growth through a variety of mechanisms including prospecting and leveraging key relationships within the community.
- Monitor campaign key performance indicators for both campaigns through utilization of data and adjust fundraising strategies as necessary.
- In partnership with volunteer committees, oversee public relations and promotion for fundraising events, programs, and activities.
- Implement Foundation’s best practices regarding the planning and management of the volunteers and logistics, and revenue generating activities for the chapter’s annual comedy fundraising event.
- Be knowledgeable about Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and the Foundation’s strategic plan, operations, and mission.
- Collaborate with Executive Director and national partners to work collectively towards strategic team goals.
- Maintain accurate and complete database, records and files for fundraising events, programs, and activities.
- Perform all other duties and tasks required to support new and/or proposed events, programs, and campaigns.
Volunteer Engagement
- Build a compelling vision for growth and collaborate with volunteer leaders and staff to achieve it.
- Work with leadership volunteers to identify, recruit, and engage volunteers who have potential to make an impact in multiple campaigns across the chapter.
- Build strong and effective partnerships with volunteers and supporters and help foster a culture of accountability.
- Partner with and support volunteer committees to drive success in campaigns and grow support for our mission.
- Serve as a key leader in your market area building relationships, raising awareness, and sharing mission impact with constituents.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in not-for-profit fundraising.
- Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising experience that includes special events, P2P fundraising, committee recruitment and engagement etc.
- Knowledgeable in corporate giving, donor cultivation and recognition, donor records and acknowledgement.
- Familiarity with major gifts and Moves Management.
- Proven and applicable skills in strategic planning, budgeting, and utilization of data to drive results.
- Exceptional written/oral presentation and communication skills.
- Creative thinker/problem solver.
- Self-motivated, results oriented leader with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage a budget.
- Skillful in balancing multiple and competing priorities.
- Proven capability of working with a variety of personality and leadership styles in a matrixed organization, and externally with volunteers and partners.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, Donor Drive, SalesForce, One Cause a plus.
- Flexible to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Ability to travel locally up to 25%.
