Description

BASIC FUNCTION:

Carries out assignments of a project nature related to manufacturing processes, equipment, design, tooling, fixtures, plant and office layout to improve material flow and handling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Participates in Manufacturing Check Sample (MCS) builds of new or modified products to ensure manufacturability and establish assembly workflow.
\n
2. Develops and maintains work instructions for assembly and fabrication processes.
\n
3. Manages continuous improvements projects and Lean activities within the facility to improve overall workflow.
\n
4. Applies statistical methods and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards.
\n
5. Evaluates and recommends additional equipment needed to make existing and new products.
\n
6. Modifies and creates CAD layouts for processes and/or plant layout.
\n
7. Formulates procedures and carries out specific guidelines needed to make products in a safe and cost-effective manner.
\n
8. Develops new assembly lines and project labor standards.
\n
9. Assists in determining layout of plant equipment and implements cost saving measures.
\n
10. Analyzes and approves feasibility and reliability of components and system designs and advises on design revision proposals.
\n
11. Works closely with Design, Quality, and other Manufacturing Engineers.

OTHER DUTIES:

1. Maintains cleanliness of work area and follows safe work practice rules.

1. Performs other miscellaneous duties as required.

CONTACTS:

Internal: Regular (31-45%)

Contacts require joint actions to achieve results for more complex operating or management problems.

External: Occasional (6-15%)

Contacts involve occasional controversy, requiring independent judgment and some resourcefulness.

Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor's degree in a scientific field.

Experience: Three years related work experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Manual Dexterity: Limited manual dexterity required.

Physical Effort: Work requires infrequent physical demands.

Working Conditions: Normal plant, shop, field or office conditions. From time to time slightly disagreeable features.

Hazards: Negligible. Little or no exposure to hazards.
