Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical support, tooling design, and processing expertise towards the final stage development, scale up, and commercialization for new and existing product lines. They will assist Research, Commercialization, & Quality Engineers tasked with developing and/or improving current and future DSM Biomedical products/processes.

They will participate on project teams within the PMP/project management process.

Job Context

This will be for a short term position, with specific focus on the production aspects of thermoplastic polyurethanes and silicone hydrogel technologies. Initial training for this role will require 2 weeks on site on site at Exton, PA facility and recurring cadence will be for 2 consecutive weeks a month.

Key Areas of Accountability / Responsibility

• Execute designed studies to demonstrate product/process performance at prototype, lab/pilot scale, and full production scale.
• Develop all necessary documentation to support improved process in manufacturing.
• Providing in-house development and/or technical support to Operations.
• Conduct studies on projects/processes to achieve improvements in productivity, yield and/or operating costs.
• Conduct root cause analysis studies into customer complaints and support resolution options as it relates to
• manufacturing process, equipment or product requirement.
• Assist with design and engineering specifications, of prototype medical devices and instruments from minimal product
• descriptions for DSM Biomedical proprietary or OEM customer products.
• Create, update, and or review XCN’s, ECN’s, process routers, drawings operating procedures, and other written
• documentation in accordance with GMP requirements to support product development and manufacturing.
• Following Design Control and Risk Management procedures

Knowledge and educational level

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Biomedical, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, Electrical or related field.
• A minimum of 2-6 years of process engineering experience especially in kinetics, thermodynamics, and chemical manufacturing process design.
• Cost modeling experience desirable.
• Experience in scoping, purchasing, and setting up chemical manufacturing equipment, as well as designing chemical processes.
• Experience in equipment and process validation (IQ, OQ, and PQ) to transfer new processes and equipment into manufacturing;Root Cause analysis and incident investigation skills as well as problem solving.
• Technical knowledge and experience in managing multiple projects / tasks with minimal supervision.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of ISO, QSR, cGMP regulations and other relevant regulatory and quality requirements.
• Computer literacy (i.e. Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook, Creo, Pro/E or similar CAD system).
