Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Mold Technician sets up, starts, troubleshoots, and repairs injection molding machines and equipment to ensure optimum production and product quality. This position operates various shop equipment and powered and non-powered hand tools.

JOB DUTIES

• Operates various shop equipment, including a milling machine, band saw, drill press, lathe, welder, torch, and electrical tester.
• Uses a wide variety of powered and non-powered hand tools.
• Sets up and prepares new molds for start-up after mold change.
• Perform mold and insert changes in injection mold machines.
• Troubleshoots, makes necessary adjustments, and repairs injection molds and auxiliary equipment using various shop equipment and powered and non-powered hand tools.
• Maintains facility services such as water, compressed air, and electric supply.
• Performs preventive maintenance according to prescribed schedules or as directed.
• Completes required documentation of mold changes and machine adjustments.
• Identifies and communicates the need for spare or replacement parts.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• One year related Mold Technician experience
• Experience operating shop equipment, such as milling machine, band saw, drill press, lathe, welder, torch, and electrical tester preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Strong hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical skills
• Ability to read 2D/3D CAD files
• Ability to operate powered and non-powered hand tools
• Excellent organizational and time management skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work is performed in a manufacturing environment where there is exposure to noise, outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and working in high places
• Ability to stand stationary for long periods of time, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle and/or feel objects, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, talk, see and hear
• Ability to push, pull, lift, carry, or move up to 50 lbs.
