Performs phlebotomy functions and non–technical duties in areas including SSH&EC Laboratory, outpatient and off-site services. Essential functions include performing venipuncture, fingerstick, and heelstick procedures according to established procedures with minimal discomfort to patients; assisting in training new employees and student interns; following organizational and departmental policies; identifying patients and properly labeling specimen tubes; organizing and completing workload including scheduling and drawing patients; communicating results to doctors and VNA; assisting co-workers and coordinating with Outreach Coordinator; performing Electrocardiograms (EKG) including patient identification, lead placement, data collection, and transmission; adhering to safety protocols including use of PPE and knowledge of safety procedures; participating in continued learning and embracing technological advances. Non-essential functions include other duties as required. Work hours are 6:45am to 6pm Monday-Friday with weekends on-call as needed.
