Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Coaching & Support: Provide embedded coaching and professional development to Pre-K teachers on integrating SEL and behavior supports into daily instruction.
  • Behavior Intervention: Guide the development and implementation of individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) in collaboration with teachers, families, and support staff.
  • SEL Integration: Support the integration of evidence-based SEL programs and practices aligned with state early learning standards.
  • Data-Driven Practice: Assist educators in collecting, analyzing, and utilizing behavioral and emotional development data to inform instructional and intervention strategies.
  • Professional Development: Design and lead professional learning sessions on trauma-informed teaching, de-escalation techniques, classroom climate, and self-regulation strategies for young children.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with school psychologists, counselors, behavior specialists, and families to support a holistic approach to student well-being.
  • Modeling & Observation: Model effective SEL and behavior management techniques in Pre-K classrooms and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Family Engagement: Partner with families to provide strategies that support children's emotional growth at home and school.
  • Crisis Response: Provide support and consultation during behavioral crises and help establish classroom systems for prevention and intervention.
  • Compliance: Ensure alignment with IDEA, Section 504, and district policies related to behavior and mental health support for young learners.



EXPERIENCE:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Valid state teaching certificate with Early Childhood endorsement
  • Certification or training in behavior intervention or social-emotional learning (preferred)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of successful Pre-K classroom experience, preferably in diverse or high-needs settings
  • Experience with PBIS, trauma-informed practices, and/or early intervention strategies
  • Experience in coaching or mentoring teachers (preferred)

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of early childhood development and social-emotional milestones
  • Ability to manage sensitive behavioral situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with educators, families, and support teams
  • Proficiency in using assessment tools related to SEL and behavior (e.g., DECA, CLASS, ASQ-SE)
  • Cultural responsiveness and a commitment to equity in early childhood education
