React Native Developer - 6 month extendable contract.

Job Description

In the Store Retail Services group this developer will work as part of a team to design, build, and field some of the world's highest-volume retail systems. This company is creating a new generation of store systems that enable our associates to work smarter AND provide excellent service for our customers. They're integrating applications that blur the lines between online, mobile, and in-store experiences – all so our customers can spend less and live better!

Designs, develops, and implements web-based Java applications to support business requirements. Follows approved life cycle methodologies, creates design documents, and performs program coding and testing. Resolves technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 3 or more years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. A degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Desired skills include:
- Experience with Agile/Scrum/Sprints
- Experience with design and development of large scale (millions of users) UI and/or Backend applications
- Experience with RESTful API development
- Experience publishing and consuming with Kafka or similar product for messaging
- Experience with React Native or Native language
- Experience with microservices and/or containers using SprintBoot or similar product
- Experience with GITHub and CI/CD pipeline
- Experience with cloud deployed apps

EVP

This person will be working on the Next Gen POS team gaining exposure to cutting edge technologies, such as React Native, Kotlin, automation and Azure cloud. They will soon be standing up an R&D team, so if people have interest in learning more about machine learning, AI, python they could eventually move onto this team.

 

Work Environment

They will be working in an agile environment that is highly collaborative. There are currently under 10 people on this team and they would like to grow to 20 developers next year. They have a startup culture and want people who take pride in their craft and are ready to grow in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.

Impact to the Internal/External Customer

By modernizing the POS process they will be able to create more efficiencies and accessibility in the check out process, which will ultimately improve their customer's buying experience. They will avoid having to wait in long lines and mitigate human error. Their Next Gen POS will use facial recognition, so it will be able to verify someone's age when they're buying cigarettes or alcohol. It will alert the system if someone is buying cigarettes or alcohol under age.

The Digital Retail Services, which includes Walmart and Sam\'s Club is trying to modernize the front end POS experience for their customers in 3 main areas 1) Checking out with a store rep 2) Self check out 3) Hand held devices for check out anywhere in the store. They need strong front end developers with reactive native experience who also understand how the front end integrates with the backend.
