The Regulatory Affairs Manager provides leadership, direction and management in the implementation of regulatory policies, procedures and strategies to ensure chemical and product regulatory compliance. Supports the business and functional team to integrate product compliance and risk management controls during all phases of product development and commercialization. Implement environmental programs, plan and procedures for compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory.

POSTION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage hazard communication compliance (GHS). Maintain and update regulatory systems for authoring SDS’s, labels and regulatory content with changing regulations.
  • Coordinate the submission of automotive IMDS requests.
  • Provide proper hazardous materials classification with DOT, TDG, IMDG and IATA and support documentation, packaging and labeling for transportation.
  • Establish training requirements on chemical management for facility personnel and provide for the professional development of regulatory staff.
  • Develop and maintain procedures, process and submissions for compliance with EPA TSCA, Canada NSN and other chemical control laws as necessary.
  • Communicate new and emerging regulations and legislation relating to chemical management with business to minimize risk and liability.
  • Support product development with notifications or submissions to EPA FIFRA and FDA food contact.
  • Manage Chemtrec emergency response services.
  • Provide for new hire orientation on regulatory policy.
  • View new chemicals introduced into products or processes for regulatory and safety concerns.
  • Support and provide guidance on ERP (SAP) functions through new part creation process, raw material additions, chemical compositions and regulatory data.
  • Coordinate with EHS on RCRA training.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health & Safety or Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, or other safety environmental safety degree.
  • 7 + years of progressive experience in Regulatory Affairs, Product Stewardship or EHS department at an industrial or manufacturing facility.
  • Working knowledge of regulations and standards such as GHS, FDA, TSCA, CEPA, DSL, FIFRA, RCRA, etc.
  • Experience with SDS authoring systems and ERP management.
  • Experience with 5S, continuous improvement processes and ISO management systems are strongly preferred.
