Job Summary

We are seeking a talented R&D Lab Technician to join our dynamic team at Prefere Melamines LLC.

In this role, the ideal candidate will perform lab synthesis of coating & technical resins, scale-up from lab through to manufacturing plant, and provide initial application/performance testing of developmental products in the field of coatings and technical applications. The Lab Tech will provide assistance for transferring processes to or from other sites and provide documentation of lab work and results.

This position performs scientific work requiring the application of standard chemical laboratory techniques and procedures. The Lab Tech will complete individual objectives as assigned and identifies and implements solutions to problems.

Responsibilities

• Complete project requests and objectives as assigned.
• Experiment documentation, preparation/modification of Technical Manufacturing Instruction.
• Develop, perform and maintain analytical test methods.
• Perform GPC/HPLC analysis of resins as required.
• Conduct batch sample testing, off-spec analysis, and troubleshooting
• Provide initial application/performance testing of developmental products in the field of coatings and technical applications.
• Interact with vendors as necessary in order to identify and/or obtain raw materials or services.
• Work effectively with all departments to include, but not limited to R&D, Commercial, Production, Engineering and Quality.
• Effectively and professionally present findings and recommendations by visualizing data collection, outcomes, scientific research/lab work.
• Demonstrate the ability to solve problems within an area of expertise.
• Demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner supporting a “safety first” mindset.
• Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the research lab and the supplies within. Upkeep of lab instruments and equipment.
• Work to ensure Prefere Melamines LLC complies with all applicable site policies, state and federal laws and regulatory requirements.
• Perform crater testing via various methods as required by investigative or new material qualifications.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field with 3-5 years of batch synthesis related experience preferred. Associate’s degree with applicable experience also considered.
• 0-2 years of full-time job experience in the synthesis and testing of resins.
• If 0-1 years of job-related experience will be considered with an internship focusing on synthesis and testing of resins.
• Experience analyzing resins is preferred.
• Chromatography experience preferred: SEC, HPLC, GC.
• Skills in experiment design, literature search and use of computer/software for control of small lab reactors preferred.
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills; meeting multiple tasks and projects by due dates.
• Must be able to recognize and observe data in a technical environment.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25-29.80 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

• 8-hour shift
• Monday to Friday
