We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Safety Coordinator to join The Ritchie Industries manufacturing team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for managing and enhancing the organization's safety and security programs, ensuring a safe and compliant workplace. Your expertise will help promote a culture of safety, drive continuous improvement, and ensure all safety protocols are in place to protect our workforce and facility. As a key member of the team, you will work collaboratively with management to evaluate, implement, and monitor safety practices, while also leading educational initiatives and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.


Duties/Responsibilities:
Collaborative Policy Development: Partner with management to design, implement, and continuously improve safety and security policies, procedures, and programs that foster a safe and secure work environment for all employees.
Program Coordination & Risk Mitigation: Lead the organization's safety and security initiatives, ensuring comprehensive risk management strategies that prioritize the well-being of all staff members.
Safety Program Evaluation & Improvement: Regularly assess the effectiveness of safety programs, using data and employee feedback to drive meaningful improvements and elevate safety outcomes across the organization.
Engagement & Safety Awareness: Conduct weekly Toolbox Talks to actively engage employees, raise safety awareness, and reinforce the importance of safety at every level of the company.
Training Program Enhancement: Review and refine existing safety training programs to ensure they remain up-to-date, relevant, and impactful in supporting a culture of safety.
Emergency Preparedness & Risk Management: Will also drive/implement strategies to strengthen emergency preparedness, accident prevention strategies, and risk management practices, ensuring a proactive approach to safety.
Injury Prevention & Safety Improvements: Identify opportunities to reduce workplace injuries and health-related issues, contributing to an ongoing improvement in employee safety and well-being.
Environmental Safety Communication: Share critical environmental safety information with key personnel, ensuring a shared understanding of safety standards and requirements throughout the organization.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the organization's full compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations, codes, and standards, promoting a culture of safety compliance and accountability.
Accident Investigation & Prevention: Lead thorough investigations into workplace accidents, collaborating with HR to develop strategies that prevent future incidents and support continuous safety improvement.
Workers' Compensation Management: Manage workers' compensation cases, facilitating effective communication, appointment scheduling, and reporting to support injured employees and ensure compliance with all necessary processes.
Other Safety-Related Tasks: Take on additional safety-related duties as needed, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive work environment.


Required Skills/Abilities:
Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with others and foster a team-oriented approach to safety initiatives.
Safety & Security Expertise: In-depth knowledge of safety protocols, emergency preparedness, and security measures.
OSHA & Compliance Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of OSHA standards and company-specific safety policies.
Communication Skills : Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to train and present to diverse groups.
Organizational & Administrative Skills: Excellent organizational abilities, with keen attention to detail in managing safety processes and documentation.
Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (or similar software) with the ability to track and manage safety-related data and reports.
Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on identifying and implementing proactive safety solutions.
Safety Culture Leadership: Ability to foster a positive safety culture, promoting employee engagement and adherence to safety practices


Education and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Safety Coordinator role holds a bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field, providing a strong foundation in safety and risk management principles. With a minimum of five years of experience, including at least three years in a manufacturing setting, the candidate will bring valuable industry-specific expertise. Advanced training or certification in safety and security, such as OSHA 30-hour or an equivalent program, is required, ensuring a high level of competency in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.


Physical Requirements:
The Safety Coordinator role requires the ability to work comfortably at a desk for extended periods while utilizing a computer to manage safety tasks and documentation. Additionally, the role involves occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds and requires mobility to travel throughout the facility for safety inspections, ensuring that all areas meet safety standards. A balance of desk-based work and on-site engagement allows for a dynamic and impactful role in promoting a safe and compliant work environment.
