Role Overview
The scrum master facilitates and champions the agile delivery process by coaching and mentoring teams, helping identify and eliminate impediments, and promoting the use of standards and best practices. The scrum master ensures smooth operation of agile processes and activities and is responsible for facilitating key ceremonies in the lifecycle of the team and team-of-teams.
Key Responsibilities
Champion and facilitate adoption of agile standards, tools, and best practices in this transitional environment
Organize and facilitate agile activities and ceremonies including team syncs/ DSUs, demos, retrospectives, planning, and product backlog refinement sessions.
Coordinate and facilitate coordination with other SMs, teams, etc. for shared ceremonies (e.g., PI Planning).
Facilitate meetings that are productive, on topic, and within the timebox.
Collaborate closely with the product owner.
Coach team on established IT and corporate standards (e.g., security, quality, and architecture) to minimize operational and reputational risk.
Utilize feedback and metrics (e.g., quality, delivery, cadence, etc.) to facilitate identifying areas of opportunity and work with team to continuously improve.
Coach the team to improve collaboration and self-management, promoting healthy interactions both within the team and with external stakeholders.
Support the team in using agile planning and development tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, agile hive).
Experiment with new practices to improve team outcomes.
Actively participate in learning opportunities such as communities of practice or conferences to improve skills and better support the team.
Contribute to the advancement and improvement of agile practices within the organization.
Skills and Competencies
Experience in transitioning environment: bridging waterfall and agile while bringing teams into new ways of working
Knowledge and experience with agile practices, frameworks, and techniques- SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) required.
Coaching skills and ability to motivate teams.
Strong facilitation, communication, and presentation skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience with agile planning and development tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence)
Qualifications
Bachelor s degree (or equivalent years of experience).
3+ years of scrum master experience with new-to-agile teams
SAFe certification required (SSM)
