Job Description
The Senior Aero-Thermal Engineer within the Research and Development team will be responsible for contributing to the detailed design and development of turbomachinery throughout the product development life cycle, from the definition of the customer/product requirements to the product implementation and qualification phases.
This position is located onsite at our facility in Tallahassee, FL.
Job Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities: (include the following, other duties may be assigned)
o Experimental and theoretical evaluation of centrifugal compressor performance
o Compressor performance test plan specification
o Overseeing and participating in compressor testing activities in the DTC laboratories
o Recommending compressor testing lab improvements
o Aero/thermal test data analysis and processing
o Summarizing compressor test results in reports for future reference
o Development of compressor performance maps and rating programs (CPR).
o Performing aero and thermal designs for new products
o Using CAD tools including main streamline software and CFD in design and evaluation
o Aero/thermal test data analysis and processing
Background & Skills
Education and/or Experience
o Masters or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
o 5+ years of working experience in advanced fluid mechanics
o 5+ years of working experience in designing industrious centrifugal compressors
o Experience with commercial 1D mean line code such as COMPAL
o Experience with commercial Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) codes such as CFX and NUMECA
o Familiarity with CAD/CAE
o Organization experience in product development engineering
o Strong team player with a high focus on meeting deadlines and team objectives
o Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
o Must be detail-oriented and self-motivated
o Refrigeration system thermal cycle analysis experience is a plus.
Preferred qualifications:
o Experience in compressor and chiller testing
