Senior HVAC Engineer

We are looking for a hands-on engineer in the facilities department to provide engineering support and system ownership for all HVAC and hydronic systems. This includes working alongside: Engineering Technicians, Plant Operation Technicians, Manufacturing Engineering, Line Maintenance, and Section Managers. This position is expected to provide 24/7 support as needed. It is critical that the person holding this position responds quickly to events that impact production and provide solutions to remediate the problems.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide engineering for facility support to wafer production. Responsible for engineering oversight of all HVAC and Hydronic equipment including: Air handlers, Exhaust Fans, Wet Acid Scrubbers, Vacuum pumps, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Hot water and steam boilers, Pumps, control valves, and Heat Exchangers. Manage capital and non-capital projects. Perform FMEA of all equipment under responsibility scope. Identify predictive failure mitigation maintenance opportunities. Lead and execute energy management projects. Negotiate Natural Gas marketer contract. Track Natural Gas usage and use this data to forecast the following years base load. Maintain compliance within ISO 3 Clean Room classification where required within the fab. Participate in customer and regulatory audits pertaining to product handling environment temperature and humidity compliance. Provide miscellaneous CAD service for the entire site.

Required Skills & Abilities:

• HVAC design – Load calculations, flow calculations, duct design, equipment selection, sensible and latent heat transfer
• Piping design
• Psychrometric – Calculations including dehumidification and humidification
• Hydronics – Boiler and chiller operation
• Electrical theory – 3 phase, single phase, and DC
• Industrial ventilation
• FMEA
• Root Cause Analysis
• Capital project planning
• Drafting/AutoCAD experience – Produce/update drawings, Xref structure, Layers, and Attributes
• Project management
• Virtual troubleshooting and problem identification via SCADA
• Predictive failure identification and analysis
• Code compliance verification
• Energy management
• Maintain and review specifications
• Equipment performance data gathering and analysis

Education & Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field and 5+ years applicable experience
• Manufacturing experience preferred, Semiconductor experience a plus
• Construction experience preferred
• Consulting experience preferred

• Licenses P.E. in the state of Idaho preferred
