The Opportunity
We are looking for a talented individual to provide comprehensive oversight on model risk validation throughout the model lifecycle. This role involves conducting thorough validation activities while ensuring strict compliance with risk and compliance policies. It is essential that this position maintains independence from model stewards (such as model owners, developers, implementers, and users) throughout every stage of model development and maintenance.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires you to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL.
Relocation assistance is not available for this role.
What you'll do:
Perform independent model validation control activities for high-risk in-house and vendor models.
Utilize expert technical skills to develop and execute validation testing plans.
Replicate model development and potentially create challenger models using techniques such as predictive modeling, machine learning, deep learning, time-series forecasting, stress testing, and simulation.
Design and conduct comprehensive model testing and data quality assessments across various datasets, including large and unstructured datasets.
Review the end-to-end lifecycle of model management, including development, implementation, ongoing monitoring, and application in Banking and Insurance (Property & Casualty and Life) contexts.
Evaluate model risk ratings, manage model change validations, and oversee peer validation efforts.
Deliver insightful validation reports to model validation management, partners, senior leadership, and other stakeholders.
Implement a structured model validation process aligned with risk and compliance policies, while continuously developing knowledge on emerging modeling techniques and approaches.
What you have:
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Engineering, or Computer Science, or related discipline; four additional years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
A minimum of 6 years of experience in model validation, model development, statistical analysis, or advanced quantitative research; or an advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a quantitative discipline along with 4 years of relevant experience.
Proven ability to communicate complex quantitative and technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences, senior leadership, auditors, and regulators.
Strong programming skills in R, Python, SAS, Java, C, SQL, or similar languages for robust model and algorithm development.
Extensive experience with at least three of the following techniques: Unsupervised Learning, K-Means, Linear Regression, Time-Series Forecasting, Stress Testing, Logistic Regression, Simulation Models, Deep Learning, or Bayesian Estimators.
Solid understanding of operational and support functions in Banking and/or Insurance, including relevant modeling and analytics knowledge.
What sets you apart:
Experience in developing or validating Artificial Intelligence Models, including Generative AI, in accordance with Federal Reserve Guidance on Model Risk Management (SR 11-7).
Understanding of data engineering, including concepts and practices for designing and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure.
Experience with cloud resources management across platforms like Azure and GCP.
Familiarity with Disparate Impact and Bias testing.
Compensation range: The salary range for this role is: $127,310.00 - $243,340.00.
