Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A school in Sylva, NC is seeking an experienced Sign Language Interpreter to support a kindergarten student on a 1:1 basis in an elementary school setting. This is a contract position for the full school year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide clear and accurate sign language interpretation for a young student throughout the school day
• Facilitate effective munication between the student, teachers, and peers to support full classroom participation
• Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the developmental needs of a kindergarten student
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
• Collaborate with educational staff to ensure the students munication needs are consistently met

Qualifications:

• Proficient in sign language interpretation with a minimum EIPA score of 3.0
• Prior experience interpreting for elementary-aged children, preferably at the kindergarten level
• Strong munication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently in a 1:1 setting
• Understanding of educational environments and classroom dynamics
