Job Description

This opportunity is for a Special Education Teacher to serve in a middle school setting for the 2025-2026 school year. The position focuses on providing support as a Social Emotional Resource teacher, specializing in high incidence and emotional disturbance (ED) cases. This full-time role is based in Shawnee, KS, and follows a contract for the school year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction and interventions to students with emotional and behavioral challenges
• Collaborate with general education teachers, staff, and families to create individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Monitor student progress and adjust strategies to meet diverse learning needs
• Maintain compliance with state and federal special education regulations
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports social-emotional growth

Qualifications:

• Active Kansas Special Education teaching license required
• Preference for candidates licensed in high incidence special education areas
• Experience working with middle school students, especially those with social-emotional needs, strongly preferred
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Commitment to student-centered teaching and ongoing professional development
