Job Description

Talent4Health is seeking a travel nurse RN Rehabilitation for a travel nursing job in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Administrative Requirements

  • Permanent Address Requirement: Must reside at least 25 miles from the facility

Required Certifications

BLS, NIHSS RN WY/Compact Covid Card and 2 Supervisior references

Unit Overview: Acute Rehabilitation

  • Bed Count: 15
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4–6 depending on census
    (Typically 2 nurses scheduled unless census exceeds 12)

Staffing & Scheduling

  • Shifts: 3 x 12-hour shifts
  • Scheduling: Self-scheduling; block scheduling accommodated when possible
  • Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period
  • Holiday Coverage: Expected if needed
  • Call/Standby: On-call for low census or additional coverage needs
  • Floating: May float to Inpatient Medical Oncology, Telemetry, or Surgical Ortho units

Staff Roles & Support

  • Charge Nurse: Present on both shifts; takes a full patient load
  • CNA Ratio: 1:10, with additional support from a Rehab Tech
  • Multidisciplinary Team: Includes PT, OT, SLP
  • Respiratory Care: RN-administered breathing treatments; use of CPAP, BiPAP, and High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
  • Tele/Monitor Techs: Not available; RNs do not read cardiac strips

Required Certifications & Experience

  • Certifications: BLS, NIHSS (provided through on-site QM training)
  • Experience: Minimum one year of experience in Medical or Rehab nursing

Patient Population

  • Common diagnoses include:
    • Stroke
    • Hip or orthopedic fractures
    • Brain injuries
    • Post-back surgery
    • Diabetes management
    • Respiratory failure
  • Common Interventions: Neuro/ortho-focused care, wound vacs, and dressing changes

Medication Administration

  • Drip Requirements: No titratable drips required
  • Common Infusions: Fluids, blood products, antibiotics

Team Communication

  • Team Conferences: Not mandatory unless in a charge role, which includes conducting morning huddles

Orientation & Onboarding

  • Unit-Specific Orientation: 2 x 12-hour shifts
  • Includes following a therapist for transfer technique verification
  • Completion of facility-required staff education is mandatory during assignment

Dress Code

  • Uniform: Navy blue scrubs with facility logo

Facility & Environment

  • Located in a separate building—emergency response requires calling 911
  • Small café available with limited food options
