Job Description

Degree in Radiologic Technology, American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Ultrasound certification, and minimum 1+ years Imaging experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An opportunity is available to operate advanced ultrasound imaging equipment for diagnostic purposes within a dynamic healthcare setting. This role demands precision in capturing high-quality sonographic images and effective patient interaction to assist radiologists in accurate diagnoses. The position is offered on a contract basis in Brewer, ME.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and position patients for ultrasound examinations, ensuring optimal imaging of anatomy.
  • Consult with radiologists on exam findings prior to patient discharge.
  • Provide ultrasound guidance during special procedures in collaboration with attending physicians.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with Clinical Engineering as needed.
  • Verify patient identification and orders via established protocols.
  • Utilize ultrasound units and probes skillfully to capture clear diagnostic images with correct labeling and views.
  • Demonstrate competence in operating PACS for image storage and retrieval.
  • Manage image transmission after hours as required.
  • Navigate EPIC system proficiently for documentation.
  • Perform high-level disinfection of endocavity probes according to policy.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential patient records in compliance with HIPAA standards.

  • Proficiency in general ultrasound imaging techniques.
  • Solid understanding of PACS and medical imaging workflows.
  • Familiarity with EPIC or comparable electronic medical records systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact compassionately with patients.
  • Ability to follow protocols and maintain patient confidentiality rigorously.
