Job Description

Vehicle Test Driver: ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)

Location: Newark, CA

Schedule: Full Time, Monday – Friday

Pay Range: $23.25/hour

Note: A valid California driver’s license, drug test, and motor vehicle record check are required.

Responsibilities

  • Highway Testing: Operate autonomous vehicles on designated highway routes in shifts with a co-driver, assessing and validating the performance of autonomous driving systems under a variety of driving conditions.
  • Monitor Vehicle Behavior: Remain consistently alert during testing to observe the autonomous system’s behavior, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor Vehicle Health: Ensure the test vehicle is in proper and safe working condition daily. Report necessary maintenance or repairs to workshop staff.
  • Data Collection:
  • Initiate and monitor vehicle logging equipment.
  • Ensure proper data collection and tag/annotate logged data with specified edge cases.
  • Handle data collection disks.
  • Training: Successfully complete a rigorous internal training program and stay updated on program regulations and requirements. [clarification needed on training program description]
  • Execute Test Plans: Follow predefined protocols to evaluate the capabilities and limitations of autonomous driving technology on highways.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify, document, and report any system issues, bugs, malfunctions, or environmental challenges during testing. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical problems and enhance system performance.
  • Documentation: Maintain thorough records of test procedures, results, and observations. Prepare detailed reports summarizing testing activities, findings, and recommendations.
  • Collaboration: Partner with engineers, developers, and researchers to provide insights and feedback, contributing to the optimization of autonomous driving technology.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines, including adherence to traffic laws and emergency protocols.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of professional driving experience, including extensive highway driving in the Newark, CA area. [clarification needed: vehicle type required?]

  • Proficiency with personal computers and productivity software (MS Office).
