Music Therapist at Quality Care Hospice summary:

The Music Therapist provides specialized music therapy services to hospice patients and their families, focusing on their emotional, psychological, and social needs. They assess patients, develop and implement care plans, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to integrate music therapy into the patients' care. The role requires flexibility and the ability to work independently, maintaining certification and adhering to music therapy standards.

As a member of the Hospice Interdisciplinary Team, the primary focus of the Music Therapist is to provide music therapy services to the hospice patients and their families in accordance with the interdisciplinary plan of care. The music therapist assesses patients and families, devises a care plan, and implements the care plan. Additionally, the music therapist consults with others on referrals to music therapy and on the therapeutic uses of music.

Flexible scheduling - PRN - Open to weekends only if preferred

Coverage area: Big Rapids, Grand Rapids, Belding and Bloomingdale

Pay: Per Visit + $0.58 per mile/mileage

Qualifications:

• Educational Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Music with a concentration in Music Therapy and/or Music Therapy.
• Training/Licensure: Board Certified as a Music Therapist by the Certification Board for Music Therapy, Completed an internship of at least 900 hour
• Mental Requirements: Must have the ability to work independently, make judgments based on assessments and data available and act accordingly. Must be flexible, innovative and possess good interpersonal skills. Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress and demonstrate emotional stability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follows appropriate standards of practice as set forth by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA), the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO).
• Maintains Board Certification by the CBMT and complies with continuing music therapy education.
• Completes the music therapy assessment for patients/families referred and devises a care plan contributing to the interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Provides music therapy sessions to patients/families in accordance with the plan of care.
• Uses music therapy to address a variety of medical, psychological, emotional, spiritual and social needs of patients/families in an age-appropriate manner.
• Demonstrates knowledge of a variety of musical genres and styles.
• Musical skills are demonstrated with competence.
