Job Description

Key Responsibilities
You will develop electrical designs for PV and BESS systems, including one-line diagrams, layouts, wiring schematics, and equipment specifications. Perform detailed load flow, short-circuit, grounding, and protection coordination studies.
You will size and specify electrical equipment, including inverters, transformers, switchgear, and balance-of-system (BOS) and bill-of-materials (BOM) components.
You will prepare permit and construction drawing sets in compliance with NEC, IEEE, and local AHJ requirements.
You will Support feasibility studies, energy yield assessments, and site evaluations.
You will assist with technical sections of proposals, RFP responses, and cost estimation for electrical scope.
You will provide engineering support during installation, testing, and commissioning of PV and BESS systems.
You will review shop drawings, submittals, and field change requests for compliance with design and code requirements.
You will conduct site visits as needed to troubleshoot, verify installations, and ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
You will work closely with civil, structural, and mechanical engineers, as well as project managers and subcontractors.
You will support procurement with technical evaluations of equipment and vendors.
You will mentor junior engineers and designers, sharing expertise in solar electrical design and best practices.
Qualifications
You Have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Master’s preferred).
You have 2+ years of experience in solar PV, renewable energy, or electrical power systems.
You have: experience or strong knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This is required
You have strong knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, UL, and ANSI standards.
You have proficiency with design software (AutoCAD, PVSyst, Helioscope, ETAP, or SKM).
You have experience with both roof-mounted and ground-mounted PV systems.
You have familiarity with EV charging and microgrids is a plus.
You have EIT or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
You have excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
