Position Summary:
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for providing the required maintenance for the facility and on all equipment at our recycling plant in Virginia. This position will be based onsite at our Strasburg, VA recycling plant and will report directly to the Plant Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead team and direct the work of maintenance technicians in providing required maintenance for the facility and on all equipment in the plant
- Work with equipment vendors in receiving/providing proper training in the maintenance and operation of the equipment
- Manage the facility, maintenance and project engineering support functions including all equipment repair/preventative maintenance, facility infrastructure, HVAC, electrical, grounds, etc.
- Recommend maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and facility design modifications to increase safety, reliability and/or achieve cost savings
- Manage emergency equipment inspections, preventative maintenance and compliance testing
- Manage work by vendors and contractors. Manage and review service contracts
- Conduct and document regular facilities inspections as required by state and federal regulations
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the plant's operational capability
- Lead and assist in installation, preventative maintenance, repair, removal, or transfer of equipment
- Define, implement and maintain process documentation associated with operating production equipment
- Support the operations teams to ensure that best practices are shared across the site
- Collaboratively support improvements and issues with associated production, process, quality, and operations personnel
- Assist with identifying efficiency opportunities to drive continuous improvements that will streamline processes and reduce costs/waste
- Proactively support the resolution of operational, quality, and maintenance issues to ensure effective management of cost and prevention of operational delays
- Inform Plant Management on status of any ongoing maintenance issues
- Reinforce safety practices and maintain safe work environment
- Ensure appropriate safeguarding of equipment and cable to avoid injury or damage
- Comply with safety protocols/environmental regulations/labor laws at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, accreditation from technical school/applicable skill trades program, or equivalent work experience in maintenance/facilities management
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in maintenance/facilities management role
- Experience with maintenance of recycling equipment (including shredders, grinders, conveyors, refining line equipment, and baggers) is a plus
- Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology, or a relevant field is preferred
- In-depth knowledge of electrical and hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques
- Physically capable and available to work weekends, public holidays, and evenings
- Excellent problem-solving and project management skills with team-oriented, collaborative demeanor
- Exceptional track record of managing maintenance programs/projects
- Strong analytical skills with high degree of attention to detail
- Possesses strong written & verbal communications with all levels of management, time management, and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated with ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage complex/changing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to make tough business and management decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external constituencies along with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a result-driven, team-oriented environment
